Camera Gear
A 70–200mm lens is essential for most wildlife. A 100–400mm or 200–600mm gets you closer to distant animals. Always bring a beanbag or monopod for vehicle-based shooting.
Golden Hours
The best light for safari photography is 6–8 AM and 4–6 PM. Midday light is harsh — use this time for landscape or detail shots.
Composition
Leave space in front of the animal's gaze. Include habitat context rather than always going for close-up portraits. Eye-level shots create the most impact.
Gorilla Photography
No flash allowed. Use a fast lens (f/2.8) and high ISO (3200–6400) in the dark forest. Continuous shooting mode helps capture fleeting expressions.
