About This Tour
Lake Bunyonyi (meaning "place of many little birds") sits at 1,962 metres above sea level and is surrounded by steeply terraced hillsides. Its 29 islands each have their own story and character. Day-by-Day Itinerary
Drive from Kampala through the scenic south-western Uganda countryside. Pass through Mbarara and arrive at Lake Bunyonyi by late afternoon. Check into your lakeside lodge and enjoy the stunning sunset views.
Full day exploring Lake Bunyonyi. Morning canoe trip visiting Punishment Island and other islands. Swim in the safe, bilharzia-free waters. Afternoon community walk and visit to a local school. Relax at the lakeside.
Short drive from Lake Bunyonyi to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (1–2 hours). Check in and attend the gorilla trekking briefing. Rest and prepare for the next day's early start.
Early morning gorilla trekking in Bwindi. Join your ranger-led group and trek through the forest to find a habituated gorilla family. Spend one hour with the gorillas. After the trek, begin the return journey to Kampala/Entebbe.
